School is pretty much officially over.

The twins are out and hanging with Mommylion while she cleans up her classroom and gets all the end of year stuff done.  They were completely fine with the end of school. I thought they’d miss their school friends, but they only even hugged them because we told them to. Their teachers were teary eyed.

The teens are finishing up – Cole is done and preparing for high school graduation on Saturday. He feels like a grownup now, which I find annoying. He is off his ADD med, which is his choice, but he is so damn ditzy without it. He doesn’t realize how obvious it is. He talks so fast sometimes that I can’t understand him. He gets so bored that he loses jobs. He can’t see the correlation and Mommylion won’t let me explain it to him - at least not until later in the summer. I did mention to him that college in the fall is going to be really rough without meds. He got defensive and mommylion got on my case.

Pinky is doing well. Today her little charter school is going swimming, and then the honor roll students will get taken out for lunch. She has done so well academically since she transferred there. She hasn’t gotten a grade less than a 92, and she has discovered reading for pleasure. Her teachers have taught her to enjoy reading. They did it by exposing the class to great YA books.  She is one of the most intelligent kids we’ve had, maybe the most, and, probably because of her background, she had no interest in being smart. Now she gets so much attention for it.   I think it has grounded her a bit. She has gained confidence in herself for something other than being funny, or someone’s little sister.

It feels good.

Current Mood: hopefulhopeful

Spring has turned to Summer overnight, and a couple of weeks too early.  It's freaking hot outside.

All the kids are exhausted and way tired of school.  Even the twins have to be dragged out in the morning.  Both of the teens have spring (or summer, now) fever.

I, on the other hand, went to bed early last night.  I needed it, and it helped.  I was probably asleep by 8:30.  The world is such a better place when one is not fighting off sleep all the time!!!

Current Mood: refreshedrefreshed

I have the best family in the world.  Mommylion proves it to me every day.  We take turns dealing with the teens' senioritis and 18itis.  When I'm just about ready to lose it, she takes over.  love her love her love her.

After a long break and a change of venue, Mommylion and I are in blogworld once again.
